David Thorne

I love this man so much that I actually think it is worth dedicating a whole blog to him.

David, as far as I can tell works as a graphic designer and very quickly you realise the mundane ways of the world are not enough to amuse David. He therefore finds other ways to entertain his days and this normally comes in the form of infuriating colleagues or acquaintances. Now I must warn you that these are only funny if you have an open mind and admittedly if you were on the end of his emails it is likely that you too would have a huge dislike for this man!

All of the articles are worth a read however the following are my personal favourites:

10 formal complaints
Missing Missy
Overdue Account
Simon's Pie Charts
Party in Apartment 3
Lesley the Lesbian

Enjoy!

Stitch Trade Show

So last Saturday I packed my bags in Worcester, drove to Nottingham to pick up Simeon from Bantum Clothing, then the two of us road tripped it down to Stitch Trade Show at The Business Design Centre in Islington. As usual Simeon tends to be on the slightly unorganised side so the plan to leave at 12pm turned in to leaving at 4.15pm. Arriving in London at 7.15pm we only had 45 minutes to set up the Bantum stand but I think we did good!

Bantum Clothing Stand
Sunday 12th and the first day of Stitch.. also the day my body decides to be so ill that I end up not leaving my bed. Unfortunately for Simeon's parents this meant a whole day of looking after a girl they had only ever met once before, spreading my germs throughout their house (sorry!!!). The rumours I heard back from the show though was that Simeon had found a free bar, and hearing him return home in the early hours of Monday morning confirmed that these rumours had definitely been true! I lay in bed feeling slightly envious of all the free drinks I missed out on.. though not the hang over Simeon had the next day!

So Monday morning came and I managed to drag myself to the show. Now I will be the first to admit I was in a foul mood and spent most my time sat at the Bantum stand (probably scaring away customers) feeling sorry for myself as I was still so ill and had a very scabby nose! I did however manage to build up enough energy to spend about an hour walking around the show talking to the exhibitors and promoting Bridge & Stitch. I met some great people including Art Junkie, Fizzy Milk and Dan from Dmds Enterprises. Hopefully in the near future Bridge & Stitch will be able to work with some of these guys and make the most of UK Manufacturing.

I also managed to pick up some freebies from Bjorg which put a rare smile on my face that day! Monday evening Simeon and I returned to Nottingham and for the rest of the week I have been bombarded with enquiry after enquiry! I literally can't believe how many people have got in touch! It is extremely positive and now I just need to turn these enquiries into customers as customers = money and money is one thing I do not have right now!!

So all in all, a successful week.... until I received a congestion charge fine this morning :( :( :( what a nightmare!!!!

London Edge Trade Show

So this weekend I headed down to London Edge Trade Show. This was the first trade show of the year, and the first trade show for me representing Bridge & Stitch! This month is February and it is time for my Marketing Campaign! - to hit the world with the word of Bridge & Stitch. It will become so popular that soon people will wonder how they got by before Bridge & Stitch was in their life, I'll be making so much money that I will even be able to set up my own independent charity that my brother will run and I will also fund my boyfriends ambition of setting up his own restaurant.... ok ok, I'm getting a bit carried away but it's good to have ambition and dreams.. right?!?
So the day started at 7am, dragging ourselves out of bed ready to hit the snowy roads at 8am. Getting to London was a bit of a mission and we didn’t get off to a great start arriving in London massively late! Chris though occasionally (not very often) has a genius idea and we altered our route and headed straight for the show!
Arriving to the warmth of Olympia was very welcoming and it was finally time to get down to business! Being my first ever visit to London Edge I wasn’t really sure what to expect so walking into the hall to find a person walking around on stilts in an amazing outfit took me aback slightly and set the tone for the rest of the day. This show really is alternative!
Chris came in with me disguised as a 'buyer' for Bridge & Stitch and I quickly ran away from him so that I could approach stands by myself. The thought of making an idiot out of myself whilst trying to do a selling pitch for Bridge & Stitch is bad enough without having an audience to laugh at me too!!
I spoke to some really nice people who had a great collection of clothes and I hope the show went well for them. These included Lady K Loves and Miss Fortune.
If you are into your leathers, punk, gothic looks or enjoy the skater, streetwear lifestyle this show is definitely for you!
It was an interesting day and a good icebreaker into the start of the trade show season! Bring on Margin and Spirit next week!

Branding has arrived!

There is nothing more satisfying than feeling like you are truly part of a business. You can therefore imagine the feeling of abandonment when attached to a company with no name, no branding and therefore no identity. I felt like I was hovering in Purgatory unsure what my fate would be!
The good news however is that I definitely feel like I successfully reached heaven!
My business cards arrived today, check them out...

Don't they look beautiful :-D . I can safely say that I was more excited than a little kid at christmas when the delivery man turned up at my house! I owe James Huyton drinks for at least the next three years for all the effort and time he has put in to my branding. What a legend!!
What's more.. today my brochure will be finished so now when I go to London Edge Trade Show this weekend I will be armed with all things Bridge & Stitch, ready to begin my serious few months of marketing campaigns! AND I designed my website this week and although it is experiencing a few technical difficulties, click here and check it out! Just cross your fingers and pray it works!!!
Now I have my business card, website and brochure I feel like this business is real, like truly real! And boy does it scare the s.h.i.t out of me!!!! I'm broke and some how I now need to make some money!! BRING IT ON!
